Mayes, Cark Thomas Sr. 62, died Thursday June 19, 2008 at Baptist Hospital East. He was a former employee of UPS and a retiree of Jefferson Co. Public Schools. He was a member of Christ Temple Christian Life Center and a US Air Force veteran. He is survived by his wife, the former Joyce A. McDaniel; nine children, Capt. Carl Mayes Jr., US Army, Chicago, IL, Monica Morton and Courtenay Mayes, both of Cincinnati, OH, and Kerry, Darin, Dale, Michael, Byron and William, all of Louisville; one sister, Mrs. Rochelle Taylor; and 25 grandchildren.. His funeral service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at his church, located at 723 S. 45th St. Visitation is 1-7 p.m. at the church. G.C. Williams is in charge.
