A funeral Mass will be at noon Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Northeast 3rd Avenue and Clackamas Street, Portland. Mr. Cannard will be buried at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Bud was born in Portland and attended the University of Portland and Lewis & Clark College. He also attended Arizona State Teachers College and the University of California. He was certified as an Interstate Commerce Commercial Practitioner in 1956. Bud retired in 1984 after 42 years from Southern Pacific Railroad as Manager of Intermodal Sales, a position he held the last 25 years of his career. After retiring, he worked with his wife Lorene in their home ceramics and porcelain doll studio "Kirk's Place" until Lorene, his wife of 49 years, died in 1992. During WWII Bud served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946, serving as a First Lieutenant and achieving the status of Airplane Commander in B-29 bombers. Bud is survived by his sons, Ken, William, Michael and David; daughters, Judi Cannard and Kathy Seifer; sister, Catherine Cannard; brother, Don; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family suggests remembrances to St. Vincent de Paul or charity of your choice. Arrangements by Zeller Chapel of the Roses.
