I found a delayed birth record Ontario, Canada, dated January 17, 1925. It lists Lawrence's grandparents, Alexandria McLeod and Donald Finlayson, as his parents. This is the same as the immigration record below, which also lists Lawrence's mother as his sister. It is not clear why they did this, other than it must have been easier and perhaps less shameful. This record was apparently made because Lawrence was going to immigrate to the United States in a few months. Alexandria McLeod Finlayson would have been 55 years old at the time of Lawrence's birth, and is almost certainly not Lawrence's mother.
