Daniel A. Brattoli was born September 6, 1921 in New Lexington, Ohio and had resided in Elyria most of his life. Daniel served with the Army Air Corp during World War II in the South Pacific; as a pilot he was awarded several medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross. He worked as a carpenter for several area construction companies and at one time was a general contractor. Daniel was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton. He enjoyed flying planes until his health declined, as well as time watching his grandchildren participate in various sporting events, and golf. Survivors include his wife of 67 years; Veronica (nee: Puhaly), three daughters; Barbara Nixon (Lance) of Grafton, Beverly Brattoli of Elyria, Mary Beth Whitesel (Doug) of Grafton, a son; Daniel D. (Diana) of Grafton.

Additional survivors include seven grandchildren; Julie Davidson (Matt) of Elyria, Leah Blazek (Andy) of North Royalton, Erin Goist (Kevin) of Columbus, Greg Whitesel (Hilary), Jared Brattoli (friend Victoria), Thom Whitesel (friend Krysten) and Daniel M. Brattoli all of Grafton, and a great granddaughter; Aubrey Davidson, three sisters; Clara Bishop of Thornville, OH, Theresa Hardy of North Ridgeville, Mary Naymik of Lorain, six brothers; Joseph of CA, Anthony of Wellington, Steve of Elyria, Eugene of North Ridgeville, John of Elyria, Marty of CA, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Michael and Lucy (nee: Petruzzi) Brattoli, and a sister; Ann Barry.
