Mr. Fred Lebrone Fortenberry, 61, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, March 30, 1996 at his home.

Mr. Fortenberry was born in Union County, Georgia, on March 4, 1935, a son of the late Thomas Harrison Fortenberry and Fena Milsap Fortenberry. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Mr. Fortenberry had lived most of his life in Union County, and was a member of the Owltown Church of God.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Seabolt Fortenberry, of the home; five sons, Steve Fortenberry of Genesia, Illinois, Daniel Marolf of Alto, GA, Russell, Roy and John Fortenberry, all of Blairsville; two daughters, Freda Cantrell of Alto, GA, and Victoria Thomas of Blairsville; six step children, Jerry Payne, Glen Payne, Doris Grizzle, and Janie Dyer, all of Blairsville, Cathy Payne of Rossville and Rachel Ramey of Morganton; two sisters, Virginia Dyer and Verdie Mae Davis, both of Michigan; two brothers, Frank Fortenberry of Illnois (sic) and Charlie Fortenberry of Blairsville; 11 grandchildren and nine step grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 1, 1996 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Willis Garrett officiating. Special music was presented by the Nottley River Boys. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Pete Kirksey, T.J. Plott, Joe Sosebee, Robert Sosebee, Leonard Sosebee, and Johnny Burnett. Interment was in Coosa Methodist Church Cemetery.
