John Coffey, of west of Edina, died Saturday at the age of 58 years. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Mt. Pleasant Church, east of Edina. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Mr. Coffey is survived by his wife, five brothers and one sister who are: Weldon and Busch Coffey, of California, Joe Coffey of Rutledge, and Harvey and Nick, and Miss Anna Coffey of Knox City.

JOHN COFFEY BURIED TUESDAY

Farmer Southwest of Edina Died Sunday After Long Illness.

Funeral services for John Coffey, who lived two miles southwest of Edina, were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Pleasant Ridge Church, northeast of Edina, and burial was in the nearby cemetery. Mr. Coffey died at 3:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, after a lingering illness of five years. Services were conducted by the Rev. Custer Vaughn, Baptist minister of Canton, who at one time lived in the Coffey home while he taught the Pleasant Ridge school.

Mr. Coffey was 58 years old. He was born on the farm of his parents, Michael and Cordelia McCoy Coffey, north of Knox City, June 4, 1882. He was married to Miss Cora Parrish, daughter of William Henry and Cordelia Parrish, Nov. 8, 1908. Two children were born to them, Glen, who died in infancy, and Christina, who afterward married Ralph Willey. She died May 10, 1929.

They began housekeeping on a farm seven miles northeast of Edina, where they lived until the 1924 cyclone swept their farm clean. They then moved to another farm half way between Edina and Knox City, where they lived until 1932, when they moved to the farm where Mr. Coffey died.

He is survived by the widow and the following brothers and sisters: Harry and Nick Coffey and Miss Anna Coffey, Knox City; William and Bush Coffey of California, and Joseph Coffey of Rutledge.

Pallbearers were Merle Oldfather, Everett Jones, Moody Sharp, George Cullison, Everett Lang and Callie Stephenson. Those from a distance attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. James Coffey and Mrs. Lori Reardon of Adair; Lyman Davis ,Hedrick, la.; Mrs. Clyde Powell and son, Ray, Columbia, and Mrs. Ora Westphal, Kansas City.
