Irish street tough from Troy, NY.
Put to death in New Yorks electric chair "Sparky" for the alleged murder of Robert Ross (1894) during an election day confrontation.
A pawn in the corrupt politics of the City, he was railroaded through a show trial despite the evidence against him being weak and circumstantial and another man actually confessing to the crime.

It all makes for a great, little known story. I highly recommend the book "The Trial of Bat Shea" by Jack Casey.
