Acting Ordnance Officer, 1st Independent Division, May 12, 1898. Aide-de-camp to Major-General Coppinger, U.S. Volunteers, June 5 to October 11, 1898. Promoted to First Lieut. of Infantry July 23, 1898.

Acting Assistant Adjutant-General, 4th Army Corps, August 15 to October 11, 1898. Acting Assistant Quartermaster, U.S.A. and on duty in connection with muster-out of volunteers, September 4 to November 17, 1898. Aide-de-camp to Major-General J.H. Wilson, U.S. Volunteers, November 16 to December 20, 1898. On duty in Philippine Islands with regiment. Assigned to 22nd Infantry on January 1, 1899.
