Mrs. Ella Gage Dies At Evant
Mrs. Ella Gage, 92, died Monday, May 31, in the January Care Home at Evant, where she had resided for the past 10 months. Mrs. Gage. the former Ella Stafford, was born Jan. 4, 1873, in Bastrop county, the daughter of R. F. Stafford and Matilda Jane Brazil Stafford. She came to San Saba county in 1893 and was married to William Henry Gage on March 5, that year in San Saba county. Her husband died Aug. 20. 1944. She had resided in the Bend-Chappel area since she came to the county until she went to live in the home at Evant. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include four sons, Fred Gage of Dallas, Joseph Gage of Rough Creek community, Truett and Paul Gage of Chappel community; five daughters, Mrs. Joe Wild and Mrs. Ervin Keeney of Lampasas, Mrs. H. A. Wild and Mrs. Johnny Lewis of Dallas and Mrs. Edgar Low of Angleton; two foster daughters, Mrs. John Casbeer and Miss Ella May Stafford, both of Lampasas; two sisters, Mrs. Essie Kubbert and Mrs. Frances Bogard, both of San Saba; 21 grandchildren and 43 great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, in High Valley Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Bill Beaty and the Rev. Charlie "Wyatt. Burial was in High Valley Cemetery under the direction of Howell-Doran Funeral Home. Her grandsons served as pallbearers.
