ATTLEBORO - Lois Eberhardt, 88, died on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro, where she had been a patient for the past five months.

Before moving to Christopher Heights on South Main Street in 2001, she had lived on Raeburn Drive for 50 years.

Born in Newton, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Powell and Ollie (May) Woodham. Mrs. Eberhardt was the widow of George Eberhardt, who died in 1971.

Mrs. Eberhardt met and married her husband during World War II. While her husband served overseas, she lived in Washington, D.C., and worked at the Pentagon for the War Department.

Mr. and Mrs. Eberhardt came to New England after the war and moved to Attleboro in 1951.

Mrs. Eberhardt worked for many years for the family's business, the New England Pretzel Company, located in Rhode Island. She later retired from the City of Attleboro, where she had been employed in the auditor's office.

She was a 50-year member of Hope Chapter 41, Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Eberhardt leaves two children, her son George (Bud) Eberhardt III of Kempsey, New South Wales, Australia, and her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Jonathan Chilson of Mansfield. She is survived by three granddaughters, Kate Chilson of Watertown, Christina Chilson of Mansfield and Jennifer Chilson of Mansfield. Mrs. Eberhardt leaves one sister and several nieces and nephews.

At the family's request, graveside services in North Purchase Cemetery will be private. If desired, donations in her memory may be made to the Community VNA Hospice Care, 10 Emory St., Attleboro, MA 02703.
