William Hall last week received a letter from Chaplain C. A. Creesy of the 13th Minnesota volunteers, dated Manila, Feb. 11, stating that he had that day been called upon to perform the last rites over the body of Fred Hall of Company I, First Montana, and that the body of the fallen soldier had been interred in a metal casket so that the remains might at some future time be removed to his former home, should such be the desire of the grieved father. Chaplain Creesy stated that the young man was wounded in the spine on February 10th, while engaged in battle and died two hours later. His brother, George Hall, of the same company, was with him at the time of his injury and death. Enclosed in the letter was a lock of the boy's hair and a leaf from the tree which casts its shade over the grave. This removes all possible doubt of the death of the brave young man all while bearing testimony most sad, is a relief to the father and the brothers.
