Scheidt died Monday in his 66th year following a lingering illness. He was a life-long resident of St. John.
A farmer most of his life, Scheidt belonged to St. John's church, the Holy Name society and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Survivors are a wife, Amelia; one daughter, Mrs. Amelia Pfeifer of St. John; six sons, Clarence, Ralph, Robert and Martin of St. John and Edward, Lansing, Ill., and Francis, Crown Point; six sisters, Mrs. Lena Schaeffer and Mrs. Rose Lindbert of Hammond; Mrs. Marl Theil of St. John; Mrs. Louise Keilman of Dyer, Mrs. Matilda Dewes of Lowell, and Mrs. Clara McCarron, of Los Angeles, Calif., and 15 grandchildren.
