Renfro grew up in Chilton County, the son of Tilden and Zillie Day Price. He moved to Sylacauga as a young man. There he met his future wife, Emma Grace Holston (always known as Grace). They married in Sylacauga on February 17, 1939. During World War II they moved to Salem County, New Jersey where Renfro worked for DuPont Chambersworks until his retirement in 1974. Grace died in 1971. In 1972 he married the former Willodean Bean who had been a lifelong resident of Chilton County. They returned to Chilton County after his retirement and then to Sylacauga, Alabama, where they were living at the time of his death.
