Walter Harris "Walt" Tuell, 84, of Parkersburg, WV died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Sunday, March 24, 1918, at Tuckers Creek, in Wirt County, WV a son of the late Robert J. and Sarah M. (Giffen) Tuell.

He was a World War II United States Army Veteran, where he served as a medic, he had retired in 1981, after 38 years of service in production with plant one of the O'Ames Company in Parkersburg, was a member of the United Steel Workers of America, and the AFL-CIO Local 1651 of Parkersburg.

He was formerly a lay preacher for various churches in West Virginia and Ohio, was a member of the Camden Avenue Church of Christ and enjoyed reading his Bible.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth L. (Davis) Tuell of Parkersburg, WV; three sons, W. Michael "Mike" Tuell and his wife, Sandra of Port Charlotte, FL, Jeffrey Alan "Jeff" Tuell and his wife, Daneen of Lowell, OH, and Randall J. "Randy" Tuell of Parkersburg, WV; one daughter, Judy L. Carney and her husband Charles of McLean, VA, one brother William "Bill" Tuell of Mineral Wells, WV; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra D. DeQuasie; one brother, Carlos Tuell; five sisters, Elsie Ward, Verna Oliver, Zelma Cameron, Nettie Deem, and Dorothy Florence.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 12 at the Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg, WV with Evangelist Brian Jones officiating. Burial in the Sunset Memory Gardens.
