Mathilda Chasak Hybner was the daughter of John and Mary Pravalasek Chasak. Her parents came here from Czechoslovakia and could not read, write, or speak English. Which was not unusual in those days.
She lost her father when she was a teenager.
She married Joseph Hybner. (who was the brother of her dear friend Albina Hybner who later became her sister in law by marrying Mathilda's brother Frank Chasak.
Mother of 4 children, Frank, Dorothy, Joe, and Evelyn. Their son Frank passed away as an infant. She was grandmother of several.
She and her sister in law Albina were as midwifes to each other and helping one other with the delivery and caring of their children.
In 1930's Albina became ill and passed away, leaving her 3 children motherless, Even tho times were hard and money scarce, Aunt Mathilda and Uncle Joe stepped in and took the 3 children to care for as their own children. Until such a time, a few years later their father was able to care for them.
She was a Catholic and lived her life as a true believer, and a good person.
She was a wonderful cook and could make kolaches and apple strudel that were the best around.
