SIDNEY — Donald William Dixson, 80, of Sidney, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at his home after a brief illness.

He was born July 7, 1921, in Mount Upton, town of Guilford, to Clayton and Hazel (Moore) Dixson.

On Sept. 1, 1946, he married Elizabeth (Betty) Waldron at the Sidney United Methodist Church.

He was a 1938 graduate of Mount Upton High School and served his country for six years in the U.S. Army Artillery during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and attended Sidney United Methodist Church.

Don retired as a purchasing supervisor from Bendix Corp. in 1982, after 31 years.

Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Sandra M. Dixson of Kingston; two brothers, Charles Dixson of Conklin and Lewis Dixson of Venus, Fla.; one sister, Doris Campion of Lake Placid, Fla.; three brothers-in-law, Clifford Waldron (Wanda) of Harlingen, Texas, Claude Waldron Jr. (Marge) of Barefoot Bay, Fla., and John Waldron (Fran) of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister-in-law, Edith Waldron Rando (Joseph) of Missouri City, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Nadine L. Dixson, on Dec. 11, 1970; and two sisters, Esther Dixson Duval and Helen Dixson Walters.

Friends are invited to call Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, from 7 to 9 p.m. when the family will be in attendance at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., in Sidney.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. David Masland at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at the Sidney United Methodist Church with burial Friday, Nov. 30, in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sidney United Methodist Church, 21 Liberty St., Sidney, NY 13838; or to Catskill Area Hospice at 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820.
