WHITEFIELD--John E. Palmer, esq., one of the most prominent and highly esteemed citizens of Whitefield, died at his residence in the south part of the town Sunday. He had been in poor health for several months, but his death came suddenly to the community. He had been a prominent figure in the municipal affairs of the town and had, on several occasions, been a candidate on the county ticket of the Democratic Party. He was a man of liberal ideas and had no sympathy with modern democracy. His loss will be severely felt in local affairs. [Contributor: Whitefield Historical Society # 47663682]
