Mrs. Ferdinand Dell Formerly of Bozeman Dies in California

News was received at the Chronicle office Sunday of the death of Mrs. Ferdinand Dell at Long Beach, California, Saturday night. A telegram from Mr. Dell advising that burial would be in Long Beach, Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Dell were for many years residents of Bozeman and other parts of Galiatin county, and they have many friends here who will be sorry to hear of Mrs. Dell's death.

Mrs. Dell was formerly Mrs. Olive C. Merriman, and her first husband was Nathaniel Merriman. After his death she was married January 27, 1877 to Ferdinand Dell who survives her. She was about 76 years of age and is survived by three daughters and one son by her first husband and one daughter by Mr. Dell. Mrs. Pearl Pond of Helena was called to Long Beach about a week ago on account of her mother's illness; Mrs. Thomas Tice of near Logan and Mrs. Jennie Verge of Helena are daughters and Defoe Merriman of Logan is a son of the deceased. Frankie A. Dell, the youngest daughter, is Mrs. Samuel H. Sharman of Salt Lake City, Utah. One son, Delano Dell, died a few years ago and is buried in the Bozeman cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Dell resided for many years on the Madison and while Mr. Dell was county commissioner of Galiatin county they made their home in Bozeman. Mrs. Dell was a prominent member of the Housekeepers' club and wrote interesting letters to the club after she moved to California about six years ago. She was a woman of much ability as a writer and was greatly beloved by all who knew her.
