County Deaths - Mrs. Gladding
WINDSOR - Mrs. Esther Moss Gladding, 95, died at 4:20 a.m. Monday at Geauga Community Hospital.
Mrs. Gladding was born Sept. 11, 1874 at Huntsburg, the daughter of Marvin and Mary Cleveland Moss. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Windsor, Order of Eastern Star, Lily Chapter of Hartsgrove, charter member of the Progressive Club and member of Windsor Grange.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Boneita Slane, Windsor; one son, Gayle Gladding, Windsor; a brother, Merle Moss, Chardon; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Allen, Middlefield, Mrs. Beatrice McCormick, Akron and Mrs. Jessie Hagans, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard, in 1957 and a daughter, Dorothy, in 1954.
Funeral services will be held at the Windsor United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Paine Funeral Home, Orwell. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Windsor Methodist Church.

Esther attended Hiram College and graduated from Ohio Northern in 1898 and taught school in Middlefield, Windsor and Bay Village.

Esther Gladding's Diary --- Friday, January 1, 1892 It is nearly 3 o'clock and I have just finished my dinner, I had to mop, make cake, and get dinner. Ethel was born Sunday night Dec 28, 1891- nearly George's birthday.
Saturday, January 2, 1892 Snowing tonight, about the first snow we have had this winter. I washed today, making the third time this week, baked four pies and five loves of bread, Perry Crosley is here.
Sunday, January 3, 1892 Went to church today. Their was but a few there - Frank and Fred Barnes came down with the whooping cough in S. S.(Sunday School). Went in a sleigh for the first time this winter.
Monday, January 4, 1892 Got up at 4 o'clock - Washed and white washed the kitchen. Papa and Perry went up to Burton Armstrong's to cut and haul logs to Claridon Station to put up a mill.
Tuesday, January 5, 1892 Butchered today - 1 cow and 2 hogs. Aunt Hattie and ---- in and Lora were over to see Mama. I tried out a part of the lard in the evening.
Wednesday, January 6, 1892 Have been busy all day trying out lard and cutting up sausage - Great - We had nearly 75 lbs and I sat up until 1 o'clock to make it.
Thursday, January 7, 1892 Here it is Thursday - it does not seem possible; how time does fly, I am going to pack pork and hams today, have moped, and will set bread.
Friday, January 8, 1892 Very cold today - received a letter from Julia, also a "Failure" which of course did not tickle me a very great deal.
Saturday, January 9, 1892 It is again Sat - it does not seem possible that time could fly so. H. A. Barnes and Alma went out to New Lyme today. Expect they will come back tomorrow.
Sunday, January 10, 1892 Went to church today and this eve went with uncle Charlie's folks over to Claridon to hear Mr. Roland preach. Enjoyed the sleighride very much.
Monday, January 11, 1892 Washed and went to the center in the eve to get some groceries. When we came home it was raining. Uncle Charlie treated us to peanuts.
Tuesday, January 12, 1892 I am busy baking pies, bread and cake today. Am going to iron some when I get around to it. I expect to go to a party tonight at Carrie and Wilsons'
Wednesday, January 13, 1892 Went to the party at Carrie Barnes's . Had a nice time - Cora Moss rode with us there - Were quite a few there Birt Drake and Carrie Stockham
Thursday, January 14, 1892 Quite cold today - finished my weeks ironing and set bread this evening. Aunt Hattie came down here today for the first time in a week.
Friday, January 15, 1892 Baked six loaves of bread and also six pies today. Am going to make a cake tomorrow. A spelling school tonight at our school house, I am going.
Saturday, January 16, 1892 Here it is Sat again how time does fly. I washed and baked today and just finished Ella's mitten this eve.
Sunday, January 17, 1892 I went to church - was a very beautiful day, also went to the Y. P. S. C. E. in the eve. Stayed at aunt Lottie's and went to meeting with Cora and Bessie.
Monday, January 18, 1892 Did aunt Lotties washing today. Had to hang the clothes up stairs as it was stormy. Went to the center and heard that Julia spent Sunday in Montville.
Tuesday, January 19, 1892 Baked some today. It stormed and flustered all day long so guess our blizzard has come at last.
Wednesday, January 20, 1892 Dear it is first as pleasant as can be and I am glad as I am going to a leap year party tonight and drive Charlie and take George too.
Thursday, January 21, 1892 Aunt Tin and both aunt Hat's are here. I did not have a very good time at the "Leap Year Party", at uncle Veron's - did not tip over. Stayed at aunt Ella's all night and came home this morning.
Friday, January 22, 1892 Went over to Mr. Jeromes' to apply for their school, I did not get it as they want an experienced teacher. Aunt Lottie came over today.
Saturday, January 23, 1892 Baked today as usual and also made mince meat which is not usual. I have quite a hard cold and feel about sick.
Sunday, January 24, 1892 Went to church today and also in the eve we went with a big sled and took Fred & Mame and Perry P. Wells. It was very nice sleighing.
Monday, January 25, 1892 Washed today although it looked some like rain. The clothes got dry so we could bring them in, I set bread tonight.
Tuesday, January 26, 1892 Baking again today. Expect to make a cake, pies and bread as I am going to a 'social' this eve up at the parsonage - going in a load.
Wednesday, January 27, 1892 Went to the social last night. It was so cold that there wasn't but six young folks there, Herburt and Lizzie, Perry and Nell, Cliff and I. I had a very nice time.
Thursday, January 28, 1892 Baked four pies today. Anna and Jasie went down and stayed all night with Carrie.
Friday, January 29, 1892 I went to the spelling school tonight. Bessie and Carrie spelled the school down. George Barnes and Howard Judd were the only ones there out of the district. Carrie stayed all night with me.
Saturday, January 30, 1892 Washed, baked six loaves of bread, two cakes. Six pies went to the station with Bessie to a sale down there. I bid off some stockings a pair of gloves a box of writing paper. Went home and stayed all night with Bessie.
Sunday, January 31, 1892 Went to church and went down to aunt Allie's. Bert and Winnie brought me to church in the evening. Rode down to aunt Lotties with Cora and Bessie.
Monday, February 1, 1892 Done aunt Lottie's washing today. In the afternoon uncle Watson took me up north of the center to apply for the school. Stopped at the center wen we came back and stayed about half an hour.
Tuesday, February 2, 1892 Stayed up to aunt Lotties' and made Sadie a dress. Uncle Virge came up and said Sattie had Lung fever.
Wednesday, February 3, 1892 Came home from aunt Lotties. Went down in Narvou and apply for the school and came back and stopped to aunt Ella's and stayed till after dark. Taken with the Grippe coming home.
Thursday, February 4, 1892 Papa and Cliff went to Cleveland today. Charlie has got the Grippe and Doctor was here and said that my temperature was a hundred and five.
Friday, February 5, 1892 Doctor was here today and said Charlie was some better. A party up at Sheridan Milliard's this eve. I was going with George but as I am sick consequently I can not.
Saturday, February 6, 1892 Sat up some today; think I am getting over "La Grippe". Mrs. Milliard gave Geo an Orange to send to me.
Sunday, February 7, 1892 Here it is Sunday again and I expect to sit up nearly all day. Riley Warren was here last evening. Thawing today.
Monday, February 8, 1892 I am some better; have sewing on mama's black dress. Papa & Cliff have gone to the center. Aunt Hattie is worse today do not know whether she will get well or not.
Tuesday, February 9, 1892 Sowed on Mamma's black dress most of the day, feel some better.
Wednesday, February 10, 1892 Sewed today also - Charlie is nearly well. Papa worked in Egypt today.
Thursday, February 11, 1892 Here it is Thursday Papa working in Egypt. Mama thinks she has the La Grippe. Aunt Hattie is very sick with it.
Friday, February 12, 1892 Perry went to the center today with a load of logs - it is very cold, one of the most blustering days we have had this winter.
Saturday, February 13, 1892 Washed, baked and moped today; papa is drawing logs from our woods up to the center, I sent a "valentine" to G. E. Barnes, Julia came home yesterday.
Sunday, February 14, 1892 Went to church today although it rained all day long, went home with Julia and uncle Watson came down to Y. P. S. C. E. meeting in the evening to take me up home with him.
Monday, February 15, 1892 Did aunt Lottie's washing today - The weather changed some last night, and it is snowing. I did aunt Lottie's washing uncle Watson brought me home.
- Tuesday, February 16, 1892 Baked and moped today - Perry Crosley went to Burton and took Maime & Nellie last night to hear an Esquimau(Eskimo) speak. Broke the sled & went again today.
- Wednesday, February 17, 1892 Fayette Leland came down to our house today and took me up to the center to see about working for him, went to Lizzies's and stayed for tea. Also in the evening.
Grandma Gladding's Diary --- Thursday, February 18, 1892 Made Mama a dress today, out of sateen - Aunt Ella and Carrie came over and stayed to supper - I went down and stayed all night with Carrie Stockham.
Friday, February 19, 1892 Sewed today - went to the spelling school this eve - spelt the school down once and then pronounced words. Fred Clark stayed all night with Perry tonight.
Saturday, February 20, 1892 Washed today and went over to uncle Charlie's in the evening and stayed all night. Fred and Maim Perry and Nellie also came over. Had a very (nice) time.
Sunday, February 21, 1892 Went to church today also led the meeting in the evening. George Barnes came home with me, had a lovely time, took a long ride and of course it was fine as usual.
Monday, February 22, 1892 Came up to Fayette Leland's to work today got here about ten o'clock so consequently did not wash.
Tuesday, February 23, 1892 Washed today and baked 3 loaves of bread, moped and etc.
Wednesday, February 24, 1892 I done my ironing today, did not get it done until afternoon about 3 o'clock. Had boiled dinner, cabbage, parsnips and carrots.
Thursday, February 25, 1892 O dear me, O dear- Ella Leland is over here bothering me. Telling how she ate supper with George and made Will mad. I think it is awful, I pity Will but not her.
Friday, February 26, 1892 I baked a dried apple cake today - Fayette & his father went to a funeral - Mrs. Fitzy - Mr. Buckwalter died yesterday morning of heart disease.
Saturday, February 27, 1892 Did not do any baking but moped- Fayette went to band meeting this eve, he said he told George that he must not come up here because he would set the dog on him.
Sunday, February 28, 1892 Went to church - Will Kinney was there for the first time in six weeks. Harley Aurer wanted me to go to church with him but as I was not at home I said "No Sir".
Monday, February 29, 1892 Washed and got done about eleven o'clock, also moped and baked seven loaves of bread. Am going to write a letter to aunt Joe this P.M.
Tuesday, March 1, 1892 Cold today, snowing quite hard; think we may have sleighing. Baked four pies today, ironed some but not much as the clothes were not dry.
Wednesday, March 2, 1892 I moped today and finished my ironing set bread this eve. Ella came over and wiped the supper dishes for me. Just got them done and it is very nice.
Thursday, March 3, 1892 Baked seven loaves of bread today. Fayette drew wood. I have a very hard cold and do not fell very well.
Friday, March 4, 1892 Today is Lizzie's birthday and Ella went down to the center to take her music lesson and I went home with her. I made taffy tonight and stayed all night with Ella L---.
Saturday, March 5, 1892 I had a big time with Ella and Lizzie last night. Ella never slept a wink and Lizzie and I did not sleep until after four. We feel rather cute today.
Sunday, March 6, 1892 Sunday again at last, I went to church and saw a good many that I know. N L ( New Lyme?) folks were at house. I went home after dinner Ella went with me; Lucien was at our house and we had a very nice time.
Monday, March 7, 1892 Fannie is sick today so I can not wash, but it is just as pleasant and nice as it can be.
Tuesday, March 8, 1892 Today is as stormy as yesterday was nice and so I cannot wash again, Ella Leland and I have been trying on some of aunt Fannie's dresses and they fit to a T.
Wednesday, March 9, 1892 It is pleasant again today. I had a big washing today did not get through until about 8 o'clock. I went over to Grandma's to eat warm sugar this evening.
Thursday, March 10, 1892 Today is stormy of course. I ironed until about four o'clock and then made potato salad for supper, pressed my flannel dress in the eve.
Friday, March 11, 1892 It has been snowing and blowing hard all day, guess maybe we shall have sleighing. I did my mending and then worked on my dress.
Saturday, March 12, 1892 Baked 3 loaves of bread and two pies. Fayette walked to Chardon today and has gone to the center tonight.
Sunday, March 13, 1892 Ella and I went to church today, coming home it was so cold I nearly froze up. Eliza and Frank Moffet were up here to Fayettes' this afternoon.
Monday, March 14, 1892 Washed today as is usual on Monday. Charlie Beadsley came up here this eve and asked me to go to a surprise party for Julia tomorrow night.
Tuesday, March 15, 1892 Pleasant today, guess that it will be a nice eve for the party-- Will came up after Ella L-- and he wanted me to go with them but I did not as thought they would rather go alone.
Wednesday, March 16, 1892 Well I have heard all about the party. Quite a number of the young folks were there - Birt and Jennie George and Bessie and a good many more.
Thursday, March 17, 1892 I have been sewing on my dress today. Have finished my skirt and like it very much. Ella and Mr. Leland went to Burton to Mrs. Mulrudy Hall's funeral.
Friday, March 18, 1892 Jimmie Warren stayed all night last night - was going to stay tonight but Mary was sick and so he could not - very cold today.
Saturday, March 19, 1892 It has been very cold here all day nearly a blizzard. I went to the center tonight with Fayette and got me a new pair of shoes. Saw G- and had quite a visit with him.
Sunday, March 20, 1892 Went to church today as it was pleasant, went home after church and Lucien Tyler took me to Y-P-W- in the eve and brought me up here afterwards.
Monday, March 21, 1892 Washed today, it is such a lovely spring day. Harry Stanton is working for Fayette today - Jimmie Warren went back to Oberlin to his school today.
Tuesday, March 22, 1892 Did my ironing today, did not finish it until afternoon. Raining hard and so does not look very inviting out doors.
Wednesday, March 23, 1892 Baked bread today, it is quite cold but perhaps it will make sugaring.
Thursday, March 24, 1892 Baked 3 pies and two loaves of cake today - O it is such a beautiful day I can not stay in the house much longer so I am going over to call on Mrs. McCalmont.
Friday, March 25, 1892 Today is pleasant again. Grandpa Leland gathered 42 barrels of sap. Ella went to the sugar bush this P. M. but I had to stay at home and made Fannie some aprons.
Saturday, March 26, 1892 Here it is Sat' again. I have been washing and cleaning up in general for over Sunday it is very pleasant but looks as if it might storm.
Sunday, March 27, 1892 Went to church today although it rained so that we could not start to get there until SS, it was some colder when we came home. George Barnes got out horse for us.
Monday, March 28, 1892 I did my ironing today, got it done by 3 o'clock. Began and cleaned our bedroom upstairs, am going to try and beat Grandma Leland.
Tuesday, March 29, 1892 Today has been pleasant and I have improved my time and have nearly finished cleaning the chambers - took up the stair carpet about dark.
Wednesday, March 30, 1892 Washing again today - and have baked a cake this P. M. Ellen Leland came here to visiting today. I do not know how long she will stay-
Thursday, March 31, 1892 I staid all night with Mrs. McCalmont tonight as her husband had gone to Chardon. Put down the stair carpet today while Ellen went to see Lottie Austin.
Friday, April 1, 1892 Went over to Grandma's after dinner to eat warm sugar - Ellen went back to Painesville this P. M. I liked her very much she asked me to come and visit her.
Saturday, April 2, 1892 I did not have to bake today for a wonder - I mashed my finger in the door , this afternoon washed out all my white clothes and boiled them ready to blue so I can put them out early Monday morn.
- Sunday, April 3, 1892 It is just as pleasant as can be today. Grandpa went and took Ella and I to church. I went home with Winnie Strong. It first poured but Birt Drake brought me to aunt Lottie's and Fayette came after me.
Monday, April 4, 1892 I got my washing done at about ten o'clock, also did my ironing today but did not get done until about nine o'clock.
Tuesday, April 5, 1892 Fayette white washed the pantry and sitting room today. I finished cleaning the pantry and took up the carpet in the sitting room and washed the windows.
Wednesday, April 6, 1892 Today is pleasant- took up the carpet in the parlor and put the carpet down in the sitting room, Bessie Moss was up here to see me this P. M.
Thursday, April 7, 1892 Put the carpet down in the parlor and cleaned the parlor bedrooms so I am ready to clean the kitchen tomorrow.
Friday, April 8, 1892 I am through cleaning house and am thankful. Baked two loaves of cake and three pies. This afternoon I shall not go to Chardon as I intended.
Saturday, April 9, 1892 We are having a great big snow storm. I did my washing or at least part of it today - Uncle Fayette went to Band Meeting.
Sunday, April 10, 1892 It is snowing so hard today that I cannot go to church. I have been over to see Florence McCalmont this afternoon, did not come back until 8:30.
Monday, April 11, 1892 I beat Grandma Leland doing my washing - got it out at about 8:30. P. M. got all my ironing done today. Fayette took me to the center this eve to get some things.
Tuesday, April 12, 1892 Went to Chardon today. Had my picture taken and did quit a good deal of other trading. Papa and Ella went to Painesville today for some fruit trees.
Wednesday, April 13, 1892 Here it is Wednesday - I have not done much of anything. Papa came home today - I went down to aunt Lottie's to practice for Easter this eve.
Thursday, April 14, 1892 I have been puttering around all day - it is snowing again - W--a and Blanche were over here a short time today.
Friday, April 15, 1892 Baked some today but did not do anything else of any importance - warmer - Vernon Bowyer was up here and wanted me to go to the concert with him.
Saturday, April 16, 1892 Susie Beadsley and her sister Elsie were down here to see me today, Anna came up for me to go down to Narvoe to see about my school - I can have it, and am to begin in 2 weeks.
Sunday, April 17, 1892 I went home last night and came to church today, also went to concert in the eve spoke a piece. Will Kinney was there with Erma Stowe.
Monday, April 18, 1892 I have got my washing & ironing all done but did not finish until after 9 o'clock. Charlie Chase was up here to see Fayette tonight--
Tuesday, April 19, 1892 Baked 2 loaves of Ginger Cake and a pair of sweetened biscuits today - went up to Oscar Fuller's in the eve with Florence Horton and etc. --
Wednesday, April 20, 1892 Here it is Wednesday . I made four pies today and have been trying to do my mending this P. M. but do not get along very fast.
Thursday, April 21, 1892 I am going to have a party this eve. Ella Leland does not know anything about it - Florence McCalmont is over here.
Friday, April 22, 1892 Well my party passed off finely Bessie and George were here - Will and Ella "broke up" going home. I don't know who he will find next.
Saturday, April 23, 1892 It is pleasant today and I have washing as it is my last day at Fayette's - Horton, Mary and Angie Chase came up to Grandma Leland's to sing. We had a fine time.
Sunday, April 24, 1892 It is pleasant today although it is rather cold - aunt Fanny went to church today for the first time in nearly two years..
Monday, April 25, 1892 I am at home today we did not wash so I have been cleaning up stairs. Anna and I nearly finished up there.
Tuesday, April 26, 1892 Did not clean any today but have been sewing some. Made Anna's dress mostly.
Wednesday, April 27, 1892 Aunt Theda was down here today and so Mina came up. I cleaned the bedroom and went a cowsliping and a fishing in the afternoon.

Wednesday, May 4, 1892 It rained hard all last night - but it has cleared off so it is as pleasant and nice as can be. Have not had to scold anyone.
Thursday, May 5, 1892 It is raining again today. I have a sore throat and also have the rheumatism. I cannot bear to think of walking up to aunt Allie's.
Friday, May 6, 1892 It was raining again this morning, Birt Drake brought me down to school a horse back - I have had a nice time today.
Saturday, May 7, 1892 I did not go to the Munn Social last night. Marie and Sheridan, Howard and Jennie, Bernie and Nellie and Harl and Dene were there.
Sunday, May 8, 1892 I went to church today and also this eve. Saw Birt Skinner, she was there with Will Kinney. They promised to come down to see me Sat evening and we are all to spend the eve at Carrie's.
Monday, May 9, 1892 Aunt Allie has been sick all day and I have been just so busy as could be and am so tired I can scarcely walk - it is pleasant.
Tuesday, May 10, 1892 Here it is raining again today. I am afraid I cannot get to aunt Allie's. George asked me to go to a party tonight but presumed I cannot.
Wednesday, May 11, 1892 Rain again today as usual. Had to walk both ways as usual, I could not go to the social had to iron until nine o'clock.
Thursday, May 12, 1892 Rain, Rain , Rain I do not believe it will ever stop. Birt Drake brought me down this morning. I played checkers with him and he beat me.
Friday, May 13, 1892 Rain again - I had a ride part way to school with Mr. Griffin, but had to walk back home. Birt and Burnice went to Middlefield and I might have a ride home.
Saturday, May 14, 1892 It is not raining today for a wonder but it is cloudy - Lyda Cary brought me down this morn. Will Kinney and Berta Skinner are coming to see me tonight.
Sunday, May 15, 1892 I stayed all night with Carrie last night. Will, Berta and I went riding, I went to church today, got my pictures George came home with me tonight - ahem.
Monday, May 16, 1892 I got up at five o'clock and made four pies and put my bread in tins, washed, moped and went up to Carrie's in the eve. Also stopped at aunt Ella's.
Tuesday, May 17, 1892 Pleasant today - it is noon and Lelo and Lola have headache and are going to try and go to sleep. So of course I must be quite.

County Deaths - Mrs. Gladding
WINDSOR - Mrs. Esther Moss Gladding, 95, died at 4:20 a.m. Monday at Geauga Community Hospital.
Mrs. Gladding was born Sept. 11, 1874 at Huntsburg, the daughter of Marvin and Mary Cleveland Moss. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Windsor, Order of Eastern Star, Lily Chapter of Hartsgrove, charter member of the Progressive Club and member of Windsor Grange.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Boneita Slane, Windsor; one son, Gayle Gladding, Windsor; a brother, Merle Moss, Chardon; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Allen, Middlefield, Mrs. Beatrice McCormick, Akron and Mrs. Jessie Hagans, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard, in 1957 and a daughter, Dorothy, in 1954.
Funeral services will be held at the Windsor United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Paine Funeral Home, Orwell. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Windsor Methodist Church.

Esther Gladding's Diary --- Friday, January 1, 1892 It is nearly 3 o'clock and I have just finished my dinner, I had to mop, make cake, and get dinner. Ethel was born Sunday night Dec 28, 1891- nearly George's birthday.
Saturday, January 2, 1892 Snowing tonight, about the first snow we have had this winter. I washed today, making the third time this week, baked four pies and five loves of bread, Perry Crosley is here.
Sunday, January 3, 1892 Went to church today. Their was but a few there - Frank and Fred Barnes came down with the whooping cough in S. S.(Sunday School). Went in a sleigh for the first time this winter.
Monday, January 4, 1892 Got up at 4 o'clock - Washed and white washed the kitchen. Papa and Perry went up to Burton Armstrong's to cut and haul logs to Claridon Station to put up a mill.
Tuesday, January 5, 1892 Butchered today - 1 cow and 2 hogs. Aunt Hattie and ---- in and Lora were over to see Mama. I tried out a part of the lard in the evening.
Wednesday, January 6, 1892 Have been busy all day trying out lard and cutting up sausage - Great - We had nearly 75 lbs and I sat up until 1 o'clock to make it.
Thursday, January 7, 1892 Here it is Thursday - it does not seem possible; how time does fly, I am going to pack pork and hams today, have moped, and will set bread.
Friday, January 8, 1892 Very cold today - received a letter from Julia, also a "Failure" which of course did not tickle me a very great deal.
Saturday, January 9, 1892 It is again Sat - it does not seem possible that time could fly so. H. A. Barnes and Alma went out to New Lyme today. Expect they will come back tomorrow.
Sunday, January 10, 1892 Went to church today and this eve went with uncle Charlie's folks over to Claridon to hear Mr. Roland preach. Enjoyed the sleighride very much.
Monday, January 11, 1892 Washed and went to the center in the eve to get some groceries. When we came home it was raining. Uncle Charlie treated us to peanuts.
Tuesday, January 12, 1892 I am busy baking pies, bread and cake today. Am going to iron some when I get around to it. I expect to go to a party tonight at Carrie and Wilsons'

Thursday, January 14, 1892 Quite cold today - finished my weeks ironing and set bread this evening. Aunt Hattie came down here today for the first time in a week.
Friday, January 15, 1892 Baked six loaves of bread and also six pies today. Am going to make a cake tomorrow. A spelling school tonight at our school house, I am going.
Saturday, January 16, 1892 Here it is Sat again how time does fly. I washed and baked today and just finished Ella's mitten this eve.
Sunday, January 17, 1892 I went to church - was a very beautiful day, also went to the Y. P. S. C. E. in the eve. Stayed at aunt Lottie's and went to meeting with Cora and Bessie.
Monday, January 18, 1892 Did aunt Lotties washing today. Had to hang the clothes up stairs as it was stormy. Went to the center and heard that Julia spent Sunday in Montville.
Tuesday, January 19, 1892 Baked some today. It stormed and flustered all day long so guess our blizzard has come at last.
Wednesday, January 20, 1892 Dear it is first as pleasant as can be and I am glad as I am going to a leap year party tonight and drive Charlie and take George too.
Thursday, January 21, 1892 Aunt Tin and both aunt Hat's are here. I did not have a very good time at the "Leap Year Party", at uncle Veron's - did not tip over. Stayed at aunt Ella's all night and came home this morning.
Friday, January 22, 1892 Went over to Mr. Jeromes' to apply for their school, I did not get it as they want an experienced teacher. Aunt Lottie came over today.
Saturday, January 23, 1892 Baked today as usual and also made mince meat which is not usual. I have quite a hard cold and feel about sick.
Sunday, January 24, 1892 Went to church today and also in the eve we went with a big sled and took Fred & Mame and Perry P. Wells. It was very nice sleighing.
Monday, January 25, 1892 Washed today although it looked some like rain. The clothes got dry so we could bring them in, I set bread tonight.
Tuesday, January 26, 1892 Baking again today. Expect to make a cake, pies and bread as I am going to a 'social' this eve up at the parsonage - going in a load.
Wednesday, January 27, 1892 Went to the social last night. It was so cold that there wasn't but six young folks there, Herburt and Lizzie, Perry and Nell, Cliff and I. I had a very nice time.
Thursday, January 28, 1892 Baked four pies today. Anna and Jasie went down and stayed all night with Carrie.
Friday, January 29, 1892 I went to the spelling school tonight. Bessie and Carrie spelled the school down. George Barnes and Howard Judd were the only ones there out of the district. Carrie stayed all night with me.
Saturday, January 30, 1892 Washed, baked six loaves of bread, two cakes. Six pies went to the station with Bessie to a sale down there. I bid off some stockings a pair of gloves a box of writing paper. Went home and stayed all night with Bessie.
Sunday, January 31, 1892 Went to church and went down to aunt Allie's. Bert and Winnie brought me to church in the evening. Rode down to aunt Lotties with Cora and Bessie.
Monday, February 1, 1892 Done aunt Lottie's washing today. In the afternoon uncle Watson took me up north of the center to apply for the school. Stopped at the center wen we came back and stayed about half an hour.
Tuesday, February 2, 1892 Stayed up to aunt Lotties' and made Sadie a dress. Uncle Virge came up and said Sattie had Lung fever.
Wednesday, February 3, 1892 Came home from aunt Lotties. Went down in Narvou and apply for the school and came back and stopped to aunt Ella's and stayed till after dark. Taken with the Grippe coming home.
Thursday, February 4, 1892 Papa and Cliff went to Cleveland today. Charlie has got the Grippe and Doctor was here and said that my temperature was a hundred and five.
Friday, February 5, 1892 Doctor was here today and said Charlie was some better. A party up at Sheridan Milliard's this eve. I was going with George but as I am sick consequently I can not.
Saturday, February 6, 1892 Sat up some today; think I am getting over "La Grippe". Mrs. Milliard gave Geo an Orange to send to me.
Sunday, February 7, 1892 Here it is Sunday again and I expect to sit up nearly all day. Riley Warren was here last evening. Thawing today.
Monday, February 8, 1892 I am some better; have sewing on mama's black dress. Papa & Cliff have gone to the center. Aunt Hattie is worse today do not know whether she will get well or not.
Tuesday, February 9, 1892 Sowed on Mamma's black dress most of the day, feel some better.

Friday, February 12, 1892 Perry went to the center today with a load of logs - it is very cold, one of the most blustering days we have had this winter.
Saturday, February 13, 1892 Washed, baked and moped today; papa is drawing logs from our woods up to the center, I sent a "valentine" to G. E. Barnes, Julia came home yesterday.
Sunday, February 14, 1892 Went to church today although it rained all day long, went home with Julia and uncle Watson came down to Y. P. S. C. E. meeting in the evening to take me up home with him.
Monday, February 15, 1892 Did aunt Lottie's washing today - The weather changed some last night, and it is snowing. I did aunt Lottie's washing uncle Watson brought me home.

Friday, February 26, 1892 I baked a dried apple cake today - Fayette & his father went to a funeral - Mrs. Fitzy - Mr. Buckwalter died yesterday morning of heart disease.
Saturday, February 27, 1892 Did not do any baking but moped- Fayette went to band meeting this eve, he said he told George that he must not come up here because he would set the dog on him.
Sunday, February 28, 1892 Went to church - Will Kinney was there for the first time in six weeks. Harley Aurer wanted me to go to church with him but as I was not at home I said "No Sir".
Monday, February 29, 1892 Washed and got done about eleven o'clock, also moped and baked seven loaves of bread. Am going to write a letter to aunt Joe this P.M.
Tuesday, March 1, 1892 Cold today, snowing quite hard; think we may have sleighing. Baked four pies today, ironed some but not much as the clothes were not dry.
Wednesday, March 2, 1892 I moped today and finished my ironing set bread this eve. Ella came over and wiped the supper dishes for me. Just got them done and it is very nice.
Thursday, March 3, 1892 Baked seven loaves of bread today. Fayette drew wood. I have a very hard cold and do not fell very well.
Friday, March 4, 1892 Today is Lizzie's birthday and Ella went down to the center to take her music lesson and I went home with her. I made taffy tonight and stayed all night with Ella L---.
Saturday, March 5, 1892 I had a big time with Ella and Lizzie last night. Ella never slept a wink and Lizzie and I did not sleep until after four. We feel rather cute today.
Sunday, March 6, 1892 Sunday again at last, I went to church and saw a good many that I know. N L ( New Lyme?) folks were at house. I went home after dinner Ella went with me; Lucien was at our house and we had a very nice time.
Monday, March 7, 1892 Fannie is sick today so I can not wash, but it is just as pleasant and nice as it can be.
Tuesday, March 8, 1892 Today is as stormy as yesterday was nice and so I cannot wash again, Ella Leland and I have been trying on some of aunt Fannie's dresses and they fit to a T.
Wednesday, March 9, 1892 It is pleasant again today. I had a big washing today did not get through until about 8 o'clock. I went over to Grandma's to eat warm sugar this evening.
Thursday, March 10, 1892 Today is stormy of course. I ironed until about four o'clock and then made potato salad for supper, pressed my flannel dress in the eve.
Friday, March 11, 1892 It has been snowing and blowing hard all day, guess maybe we shall have sleighing. I did my mending and then worked on my dress.

Tuesday, May 10, 1892 Here it is raining again today. I am afraid I cannot get to aunt Allie's. George asked me to go to a party tonight but presumed I cannot.
Wednesday, May 11, 1892 Rain again today as usual. Had to walk both ways as usual, I could not go to the social had to iron until nine o'clock.
Thursday, May 12, 1892 Rain, Rain , Rain I do not believe it will ever stop. Birt Drake brought me down this morning. I played checkers with him and he beat me.
Friday, May 13, 1892 Rain again - I had a ride part way to school with Mr. Griffin, but had to walk back home. Birt and Burnice went to Middlefield and I might have a ride home.
Saturday, May 14, 1892 It is not raining today for a wonder but it is cloudy - Lyda Cary brought me down this morn. Will Kinney and Berta Skinner are coming to see me tonight.
Sunday, May 15, 1892 I stayed all night with Carrie last night. Will, Berta and I went riding, I went to church today, got my pictures George came home with me tonight - ahem.
Monday, May 16, 1892 I got up at five o'clock and made four pies and put my bread in tins, washed, moped and went up to Carrie's in the eve. Also stopped at aunt Ella's.
Tuesday, May 17, 1892 Pleasant today - it is noon and Lelo and Lola have headache and are going to try and go to sleep. So of course I must be quite.

Friday, May 20, 1892 It is raining again as usual this weather. Had a good school today, walked home tonight.
- Saturday, May 21, 1892 Pleasant part of today. Winnie brought me to school this morn. It rained so hard spoke pieces this afternoon - Uncle Veron comes home.
Sunday, May 22, 1892 Went to church with George and Frank & Fred- Went up to Carrie's and went with her this eve - and rode home with Kitty and Birt.
Monday, May 23, 1892 Washed today got done about half past one and then we went to the center to see about caps for Decoration - went home and stayed all night and went to school Tuesday morn.
- Tuesday, May 24, 1892 Pleasant this morn - Ella brought me over to my school and stayed until recess. Carla came after me a horse-back.
Wednesday, May 25, 1892 Rainy today - Stuart and Derwood came to school with me this morning. Will Kinney was down here to visit my school this afternoon -
Thursday, May 26, 1892 Rainy - : nothing new, was going to Middlefield tonight with Winnie but it looks as if it was going to rain forever and I guess it is. Murrel Button is here today.
Friday, May 27, 1892 George Barnes was here to visit my school today. It is pleasant this afternoon for a wonder although it rained this morning.
Saturday, May 28, 1892 It was pleasant this morning - but it is clouding up now, I rode down to school with Frank Harmon this morning.

Tuesday, September 27, 1892 O dear I am tired of my school, but then I think I shall like it when I get to studying. I do not know how I can get my lessons but perhaps I can.
Wednesday, September 28, 1892 Went to a Reception given by the Y. W. C. A. at the Ladies Hall. Had cake, peaches & grapes. Had a very fine time.
Thursday, September 29, 1892 A very pleasant day we wore our white waists - I got along very nicely with my lessons today.
Friday, September 30, 1892 Another nice day so warm we could wear our white waists. Nell and Carrie went to Pres Follars to drop their Rhetoric which they did.
Saturday, October 1, 1892 Went to school as usual, got along with my lessons very well. Mr. and Mrs. Hertzcog were down to call on me or nis this P. M. XXXX
Sunday, October 2, 1892 Went to church and heard a grand sermon. Also went in the evening and heard a better one. Wrote 4 letters.
- Monday, October 3, 1892 Washed & baked today also did our ironing this P. M. I have my Arith, Grammar and most of my Rhetoric.
Tuesday, October 4, 1892 Colder today although it has been quite pleasant - wore my red waist and black skirt. O dear I have the toothache awful and heart ache worse.
Wednesday, October 5, 1892 Sat up to 12 o'clock to study tonight as they changed the time of classes so we have one at 7:45 am.
Thursday, October 6, 1892 Got along nicely today - nearly 10 o'clock - got up this morning and got our work down at daylight: toothache O dear O dear.

Sunday, October 9, 1892 Went to church today. Mr. Peckham preached from the first verse of the last chapter of Revelations, a very good sermon - did not go to meeting this eve.

Monday, October 17, 1892 Sewing on my dress. Came down to Hiram papa brought (me) - got here at a little after dark. There was a fire already built.
Tuesday, October 18, 1892 Went to school as usual - went to a Bible Class at Miss Ada Abbot's room in the evening - had a nice time.
Wednesday, October 19, 1892 School again, we do not have any Rhetoric Class today as Peerson has gone to Cleveland to Miss Pettibone's wedding.
