Mary Katherine Helmer was first married to a Fred Brunner, they were married in Russia in 1907, to this union there were six children born; Amelia "Millie" Brunner Thoutt, Henry "Hank" Brunner, Agnes Brunner Krieger, Helen Brunner, Bertha Brunner Geringer, Rhine Brunner. Mary's huband Fred died in 1918. In 1919, on March 16, Mary married Henry Weinmeister in Windsor, Colorado. To this union Henry brought 5 children; Henry Jr. Elizabeth Weinmeister Blelm, David Weinmeister, Lydia Weinmeister, Brug and Paul Weinmeister; then Henry and Mary had three children of their own; Irene Weinmeister Short, Harold Weinmeister and Theodore "Swede" Weinmeister. Her 2nd husband Henry Weinmeister passed away on December 23, 1935. In 1937 she married Jacob Wilhelm Sr. No children were born to this union, however Jacob brought 11 children to the marriage. Thus Mary became "Mother" and Grandma to the Wilhelm family and she was loved and respected by the Wilhelm children as well as her own, she had lots of love to go around.

Well known resident Mary Katherine Wilhelm, 83, succumbed to an extended illness Wednesday, April 12, 1972 at the Platte County Memorial Hospital.
Born August 28, 1888, in Russia, Mrs. Wilhelm had been a resident of Wheatland since 1937. Prior to moving to Wheatland she had lived in Colorado; three husbands preceded her in death, Fred Brunner in 1918, Henry Weinmeister in 1935 and Jacob Wilhelm in 1949. Her church affiliation was with the United Church of Christ.
Survivors include four sons, Rhinie Brunner, Henry Brunner, Harold Weinmeister and Theodore Weinmeister; four daughters, Millie Thoutt, Mrs. Karl (Agnes) Krieger, Mrs. John (Bertha) Geringer, and Mrs. Kenneth (Irene) short; twelve step-children, Henry Weinmeister, Dave Weinmeister, Paul Weinmeister, Mrs. R.J. (Elizabeth) Blehm, Mrs. Phillip (Lydia) Brug, Victor Wilhelm, Mrs. Graham (Emma) Wetzel, Mrs. Emil (Elsie) Margheim, Mrs. Charles (Irene) Spangler, Mrs. George (Frieda) Bauer, Edward Wilhelm and Charlene Wilhelm; forty-eight grandchildren and thirty-six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 15, 1972 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Christ with Reverend Roger Stiers officiating. Interment was at the Wheatland Cemetery with her grandsons, Karl Krieger Jr., Donald Geringer, Dennis Short, James Brunner, George Bauer, Jr. and Wilbert Thoutt serving as pallbearers.
