Murder Victim. She was killed by two men hired by her husband, Rabbi Fred Neulander, to kill her. His motive was to get her out of the way so that he could continue his affair with Elaine Soncini, a local TV and radio personality. Six years after the murder, one of the hired hitmen, Len Jenoff, broke down and told the details of the crime to a newspaper reporter, and she convinced him to tell the District Attorney. Rabbi Neulander, Jenoff, and the other hitman, Paul Daniels, were immediately arrested. Both Jenoff and Daniels agreed to turn state's evidence against the rabbi. Fred Neulander's first trial ended in a hung jury, but the second resulted in a conviction for murder, felony murder, and conspiracy. Court TV covered both trials in their entirety. The case was the subject of a episode of the Court TV series "Mugshots" and the book "Broken Vows", by Eric Francis.
