She was born Sept. 28, 1924, south of Okeene to Daniel and Ruth Edna Morrison Schuber and died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at Fairview Regional Medical Center, Fairview.
She grew up in Okeene and graduated from Okeene High School in 1942. She attended Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts in Chickasha and received her bachelor of science degree from Central State College, Edmond.
She married Edward Creagmile Montgomery Aug. 24, 1947, in Fairview. She taught one year in Moore and one year in Oklahoma City. She also taught in Fairview, Cleo Springs, Orienta, Progressive, Watonga and Enid. In 1968, she was chosen Major County Teacher of the Year. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Fairview, where she taught Sunday school and was superintendent of the Sunday school program. She served as president and secretary of Wesleyan Service Guild and was past president of Fairview Mother???s Club. She was a member of the state and national education associations and served as president and secretary of Major County Retired Teachers and held the same offices in Fairview Teacher???s Association. She also was a member of the honorary teachers group Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She also was a member of American Legion Auxiliary. Following her retirement, she continued to tutor from her home.
Surviving are one son, K.C. Montgomery of Fairview; one daughter, Mary Beth McFadden of Fairview; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward.
