Civil War veteran. Corporal, Company I, 106th Regiment PA Infantry. Served from Aug 26, 1861 to June 13, 1865. He was captured at Petersburg, VA on June 22, 1864.

"Another Veteran Gone.

Death of Jefferson Arthur, a Pennsylvania Volunteer.
He was mustered in as Corporal of Company I, 106th Regimt, Pennsylvania Volunteers, on 8/26/1861.

Died from the effects of a stroke of paralysis with which he was stricken so 4 years ago."
