Bud Berryman, 90, longtime Arthur County rancher and Ogallala resident, died Friday, May 27, 2011 in Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.Charles W. "Bud" Berryman was born May 6, 1921 in North Platte, Nebr., the son of Charles and Alice Chittenden Berryman. He attended elementary school at District 3 in Arthur County. In 1939 he graduated from Nebraska School of Ag in Curtis. On February 22, 1971 Bud married Maxine Newman. She died on February 2, 1972.
Bud married Alice Van Galder on January 19, 1976. The couple made their home on their Arthur County ranch. They moved to Ogallala in 1984. Bud attended Arthur Baptist Church and was a member of the Ogallala Elks Lodge #1760 for thirty years. He was a longtime member of the Nebraska Cattleman Association and served on the Board of Directors of Area #14 four years. Preceding him in death were his parents, both wives Maxine and Alice, and sister Cora L. Kinnan.
Survivors include his step-children Joe (Cheryl) Wilmetti of Rock Springs, WY., Dave (Betsy) Wilmetti of Kansas City, MO., Joe (Mary) Wilmetti of Fort Collins, CO., Cecil R. Rogers of Arizona, and Deanna Rogers of Oshkosh, sister-in-law Marge Newman of Torrington, WY., and nephew Dale Kinnan of Cozad. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 31, from 1 to 6 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 1, at 10:30 a.m. in Arthur Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Keene officiating. Interment in the Arthur Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of arrangements.
