A.B. Scott, 91, Ex-Sheriff, Dies at Raeford
RAEFORD – A.B. Scott, former Surry County sheriff who celebrated his 91st birthday Aug. 29, 1951, died in Raeford yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. M.L. Jones.
Mr. Scott had been in declining health for the past four years and was confined to his room. Prior to that time he lived in Shoals, Surry County.
Besides Mrs. Jones, he is survived by five other children, Mrs. H.L. Powell of Winston-Salem, C.H. Scott, A.U. Scott, and T.H. Scott, all of Shoals and J.F. Scott of Jonesboro Heights; 37 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were incomplete last night. His body will be taken to Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain.
