Pro Football Hall of Fame Coach. In a coaching career that spanned more then 18 years he coached such teams as, Los Angeles Rams (1955-1959), Los Angeles Rams/San Diego Chargers (1960-1969, and 1971), Houston Oilers (1973-1974). In 1980 he was assistant coach to the Philadelphia Eagles when they made it to the Superbowl. His career record was 123-104-7. He was elected to the Football Hall of Fame in 1983 and is also a member of the National Football Hall of Fame. Gillman was also one of the first coaches to use the West Coast offense used by all NFL teams.
