Mrs. Emma Hammel, widow of Frank N. Hammel, and a resident of Lafayette for several years, passed away Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock at the home of her son, Lloyd G Hammel, 4 North Twenty-sixth street. Death was due to complications of diseases, terminating in a stroke of apoplexy.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, on July 20, 1865, she was the daughter of Samuel and Mary Gardner. She was united in marriage on June 18, 1884 to Frank N. Hammel. To this union seven children were born, all of whom survive, Mrs. T. E. Stacy, of Bartlesville, Okla; Mrs. Guy Smith, of Brookston; Mrs. V. H. Nicholson, of Presque Isle, Maine; Paul A. Hammel, of Muncie; H Hanly Hammel, of Monon, and Merle G. and LLoyd G. Hammel, of this city. Two sisters, Mr.s Joseph Timmons, of Frankfort, and Mrs. John Bates, of Delphi; a brother, William Gardner, of Monticello, and twelve grandchildren also survive.
Mrs Hummel was a member of the First Christian church, the Eastern Star, the Royal Neighbors and the Pythian Sisters lodges.

The body was removed to the Rogers and Smith funeral home, to await word from the daughter in Oklahoma. The funeral of Mrs Emma Hammel will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the First Christian church, with the Rev. J. Newton Jessup, pastor officiating. Interment in the Clarks Hill Cemetery. The body will rest at the Rogers and Smith funeral home until the time of services. The Pythian Sisters will conduct a service Thursday evening at 8 o'clock at the funeral home. All members of the lodge are asked to meet at the K of P hall at 7:30, from where they will go to the funeral home in a body.
