Eugene Diamond was born in Newark, New Jersey but spent the early part of his life in Los Angeles, California. He was the youngest of six children which included brothers Harold,Seymour and Sanford and sisters Ruth and Muriel. Gene, as he preferred served in the United States Army during the Korean War spending much of his time on Guam. He came home to the states and in 1955 married Lila Kirkel. They lived in Brooklyn , New York where Gene worked for Korvettes Department Store. He was transferred to New Jersey in 1960 and Gene and Lila with their young son Howard moved to the Ivy Hill section of Newark where they remained until 1974.

In 1971 they were blessed with the birth of their daughter Caryn. Future moves included Sayreville, Roselle and Roselle Park. Gene's medical issues increased as he grew older but he fought them all always wanting to maintain his independence. He kept a positive attitude right to the end of his life. Gene left behind a loving family which included grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle Michael, Chrissy, David and Cody. His son-in-law Norman and daughter-in-law Mayra. His beloved brother Sanford in California as well as his nephew Shlomo and nieces Carol and Susan. The family extends to others who knew Gene and honored him by attending his funeral.

Gene will be remembered as a loving grandfather and a good decent man who gave what he could to his family. His love of singing will remain in our memories always. He is in our hearts. Rest in peace Dad. We love and miss you.
