Billy Doggett went off to join his older brother Jimmy in the Civil War. My father has the transcript of a letter that Billy wrote back home to his parents on Jun 2 1864. 3 days later he was in the Battle of Piedmont (Virginia) and captured by the Union Army. Died as a Confederate Prisoner of War at Camp Morton, originally interred at Green Lawn Cemetery (Confederate Section), but reinterred in 1933 in a mass grave of 1616 Confederate POW'S at Crown Hill.
