The daughter of Thomas Simpson Johnson who served in the War of 1812. His father: Peter Johnson born in Hamstead, New Hampshire served in the Revolutionary War.

Jane arrived in Iowa in 1839, and attended the first 4th of July in Linn County, Iowa. She married Andrew Jackson Arnett, 8 Jun 1841, Linn County, Iowa.
