He was buried in the original cemetery that is now Harriet Kimball Fee Park. He and all the others were moved to Oakwood sometime after it was opened.

His father, Asahel Finch, Jr., was a representative from Lenawee County when Michigan became a state. "...while serving in that body [he] aided materially in bringing about a settlement of the boundary line dispute, between Michigan and Ohio,...."
