Walter L. Morton
Services for Walter L. Morton, 71, Pemberton, who died of cancer Tuesday, April 17, 1984, at his home, were 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Alma City, the Rev. B. A. Huehn officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Visitation was 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday at the Arnoldt Funeral Home, Janesville, and one hour before services at the church.
Pallbearers were Harlen Bjornson, Donald Edberg, Arnold Engelby, Raymond Lust, Fred Lust and Darwin Hoffman.
Mr. Morton was born Dec. 30, 1912, in Alma City. He completed eighth grade in Alma City schools, and was employed as a farmhand. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in April 1941 and served in artillery units in the North African and Italian campaigns. Discharged in 1945 in the grade of Technician 5, he farmed in the Pemberton-Alma City area. He married Lucille Sodeman Dumdei in Alma City march 1, 1956. He was employed by the Huntting Elevator, Pemberton, and also worked for E. F. Johnson Co., Waseca, for five years. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Alma City.
Mr. Morton is survived by his wife, Lucille; two sons, Bruce and Todd Morton, both of Pemberton, a step-son, Larry Dumdei of Minneapolis; two stepbrothers, William Lust of Morristown and Hubert Lust of New Richland; a stepsister, Joann Hegstrom of Minneapolis; and a granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a stepson who was killed in action with the U. S. Marine Corps in Vietnam in 1968.
