Robert W. Powell, 80, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away January 12, 1997 in the Ohio Masonic Home.
He was born in Springfield, Ohio, March 3, 1916, the son of the late Herbert W. and Nettie (Frederick) Powell.
Mr. Powell retired from the United States Post Office following 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church; St. Andrew's Masonic Lodge Number 619, Free and Accepted Masons; and a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John E. and Sandy Powell, of Powell, Ohio; four daughters, Julie and Chuck Downey, of Springfield, Ohio; Sandra and George Mendenhall, of Rockwood, Michigan, Nancy and Jim Stuckey, Mechanicsburg, Ohio and Carol and Mike Groeber, of Springfield, Ohio; one brother, William Powell, of Tremont City; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Powell; one brother; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Richards, Raff and Dunbar Memorial Home, with the Rev. Julie A. Carmean officiating. Friends may call for one hour prior to the services. Burial in Ferncliff Cemetery.
