Funeral services for Juletta E. Whiteside will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011, at the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy, with the Rev. Rolf Wangberg officiating. Burial will be in the LeRoy Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Juletta Evelyn Whiteside, 95, of LeRoy, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Our House Memory Care in Austin.

She was born Oct. 26, 1915, in Adams, to Jorand Gordon. She attended Adams High School and graduated with the class of 1933. She continued her education at a cosmetology school in Minneapolis, where she worked for a short time. Later, she moved to LeRoy and was united in marriage to William Glendon "Whitey" Whiteside on May 14, 1936, in Austin.

Together they lived and served the community of LeRoy for many years. "Whitey" worked with the phone company and served as mayor of LeRoy for many years. Juletta owned and operated her own beauty shop in their home on Main Street in LeRoy.

She was very active in the community and was a member of the LeRoy Lutheran Church. She loved to gather with her friends and serve at the Senior Center with its many functions. She was a charter member of the Rogers and Benner Cosmetology Alumni Association.

Juletta was preceded in death by her husband, several brothers and sisters-in-laws, and many friends from the LeRoy Community that she loved so dearly. She is survived by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Stan and Margaret 'Peg" Lewison of Austin; and several nieces and nephews.
