Ralph Harmon Bassett, my 2nd great-grandfather, was the husband of Mary Ann Blodgett. He was a direct descendant of William Bassett, a passenger on the FORTUNE, which landed at Plymouth Colony in 1621. William was an influential Pilgrim who helped found the towns of Bridgewater and Duxbury, MA. Ralph and most of his family died within days of each other of diphtheria leaving two survivors, sons Frank Harmon Bassett (1850-1915) and Edward Harmon Bassett (1856-1940). Their other children were Lucinda Fales (1848-1849), Mary Adelaide (1854-1861) and William Edson (1860-1861).
