Bess J. Salisbury, 79, the daughter of William and Alta Hunter Blaine, was born May 24, 1902, in Scotland County, Missouri, and passed away August 12, 1981 in the K. O. Hospital, in Kirksville, Missouri.
On November 22, 1922, she was united in marriage to Rolla O. Salisbury. To this union two children were born.
Surviving are her son, Denzel Salisbury and wife, Dorothy, of Kankakee, Illinois; her daughter, Merrill McConnell and husband, Dick, of Overland Park, Kansas; two grandsons, Michael Salisbury, of Plainfield, Illinois and Mark McConnell of Olatha, Kansas; one granddaughter, Marianne McConnell of Overland Park, Kansas; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Cindy and Julie Salisbury and Dorothy Marie McConnell; four brothers, Cecil and Carl Blaine; of Memphis, Missouri, Mayhue Blaine of Los Vegas, Nevada, and Millard Blaine of Trenton, Missouri; five sisters, Mrs. J. J. (Jessie) Crowder of Concord, California, Mrs. B. V. (Verlee) Blaine, Madisonville, Kentucky, Mrs. R. V. (Ethel) Millett, Santa Barbara, California, Mrs. Leo (Madeline) Phillips of Kankakee, Illinois, and Mrs. Hershel (Maxine) Brewer of Baring, Missouri; several nieces, cousins and a host of friends.
She was of the Baptist Faith, a member of the LaPlata Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted by Payne-Gerth from their Memphis Chapel, Saturday, August 15, 1981, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Maurice Blaine officiated. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery. Pallbearers were Myron Blaine, Jim Brewer, Michael Blaine, Robert E. Couch, R. Mark McConnell and Albert H. Couch, Jr.
