Frankie Davis Barr Glenn, age 83, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2008. Born on May 12, 1924, in Boerne, TX, she was the daughter of Frank and Amelia Davis. In 1942, she married James Lyndon Barr (deceased) and moved to New York where she enjoyed singing at the Naval Base Hospital in Geneva and playing her guitar during World War II for the service boys. Her first child, James Roger Barr was born in 1943. After divorcing her first husband, she moved back to Texas to work and go to school. Soon she met Dan Carlyle Glenn and they were married in 1949. Frankie and Dan were married for 55 years and raised four children. Frankie was an avid bowler, winning many City and State Championships while living in San Antonio, Texas and here gave birth to three daughters, Donna, Dorothy, and Dicy. Among her many accomplishments, she did the bookkeeping for her husband's Consulting Firm; Volunteered for the Bandera Chamber of Commerce, Boerne Chamber of Commerce, receiving the Volunteer of the year Award for her services, and the Boerne Community Center. She was instrumental in changing the bookkeeping system for the Rainbow Senior Center Computer System. Assisting in writing the office program for the AARP Chapter in Boerne, she also taught the AARP Defensive Driving Course for many years, receiving many awards for her service. Frankie had many gifts and talents. She had a very strong will and could grow, build, fix, and play anything she set her mind to. Her sense of humor and great spirit made her loved by all who knew her. While she had many hobbies, including knitting, crocheting, oil painting, dominos, cards, and genealogy, her proudest accomplishment was authoring three books: Capt'n John, Reminiscences, and Frontier Forces for which she received notice from Kendall County Readers Club and the Book of the Month Club Certificate of the Year. Frankie was also a member of the Kendall County Genealogy Society and received several Kendall County Founding Families Certificates. She was also a member of Kendall County Daughters of America, and received certification from the Daughters of Texas and Daughters of American Times, Daughters of the American Republic, and Former Texas Rangers Association.
