Elaine Joyce (McCollum) Gibson, 69, of Noble, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Private services will be held. Stasi-Grove Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements.
Elaine was born March 26, 1942, in Bradley, the daughter of Joy and Fern (Roome) McCollum. She married David Gibson on November 3, 1961. He survives.
She was a devoted wife of 50 years and mother of four children. She was a member of North Freedom Baptist Church of Noble where she quietly lived out her Christian faith. She was a lady of strong faith and a quickly and easy smile. She worked at the Olney garment factory, learned to tool leather and was a homemaker, devoted wife and loving mother.
Elaine is survived by her husband, David; one daughter, Yvonne and Phillip Mitchell, of Olney; three sons, Mark and Melissa Gibson, of Noble, David Jr. and Carol Gibson, of Noble, and Frank and Jodi Gibson, of Noble, three brothers, Rick and Bessie McCollum, of Olney, Mike and Cleeda McCollum, of Lawrenceville, and Lloyd McCollum, of Flora; one sister, Linda and Paul Abbott, of Port St. Lucie; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her beloved pet, MandyBelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joy and Fern McCollum, one brother, Harold McCollum, and her mother- and father-in-law.
She leaves this world behind with no enemies and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
