CARROLLTON - Edna Self Gowan, age 75, of Twin Hill Lane, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, in Sentara Hampton General Hospital. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and beloved sister, daughter, aunt and friend to so many. A stranger she never met. Mrs. Gowan was a member of Riverview United Methodist Church and the Rebecca Bible Class. She was a Grandma to all of Miss Sharon's Daycare children. Her father, John L. Self Sr., husband, Andrew S. Gowan, and two brothers, Cecil Self and Clyde E. Self Sr. preceded Mrs. Gowan in death. Survivors include mother, Nora Rowland Self; daughter, Sharon Gowan Gregory and her husband, Don, of Carrollton; two sisters, Jacqueline Self Ceragioli and her husband, Rudy, of Walnut Creek, Calif., Patricia Self Burcher and her husband, Bland, of Newport News; brother, John L. Self Jr. and his wife, Carroll, of Lakeland, Fla.; two grandsons, Andrew C. Gregory and his wife, Kimberly, of Smithfield, and Aaron J. Gregory of Carrollton; one great-grandson, Andrew Gavin Gregory; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor C. Leon Basham officiating. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 6, in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Riverview United Methodist Church, P.O.
