Thomas Paul "Tom" Turck, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2017, at his winter home in Tavares, FL. He was born on December 19, 1932 to the late John and Cristine (Kampney) Turck in Croghan, NY. After attending school at Father Leo Memorial Catholic School in Croghan, he enlisted in the Navy in 1951. Tom served during the Korean War and was stationed on the SS Mindora as a gunners mate. It was here he first sold gasoline and snowmobiles. Discovering he loved sales, Tom bought the Jeep franchise to sell cars and later added the AMC/Renault franchises. In 1979 he expanded his business by building a car dealership located next to the Lowville Elks Lodge on Shady Avenue called Turck’s AMC/Jeep. Tom successfully ran the dealership until his retirement in 1985. On June 27, 1953, Tom married his wife of 64 years, Mary E. Terrillion at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Croghan with the Rev.
