After a sickbed of a few days on North Frankfort Street, Mr. William Vanderhorst died Friday, July 26, 1918 at 4 o’clock in the morning, well provided with the holy Last rites. He reached the age of 55 years, 6 months 13 days.

William B. Vanderhorst was a son of parents Peter Vanderhorst and wife Maria, and here was born 12 December 1863. In Minster, he grew to manhood.

He devoted himself to the professional roofing trade in younger years, and later he was also working as a gravedigger and lately as a mortician; he also operated a nursery. Lately he worked in the yards of the Rabe Lumber Co. On Tuesday before his death he had worked there in the afternoon. In the evening he felt unwell but before that had been rather healthy. A biliary inflammation brought about the end of his life.

On January 14, 1890, he joined into matrimony with Miss Agnes Riethman. The union was blessed with four children who are all alive, namely the two sons Peter and Henry, the first of which is with the Expeditionary Force in France, the last is a soldier in Louisiana; furthermore, the daughters Mrs. William Yoxtheimer in Sumner, Ill. and Miss Mathilda Vanderhorst from here.

Besides the already mentioned children, the deceased leaves behind the following brothers and sisters: Elizabeth Ungruhn, Agnes, John, Henry Vanderhorst, Mrs. Marie Schuler, Anna Stinebaugh, Ben Vanderhorst, and Mrs. Maggie Massing.

His wife preceded him into eternity about 20 years ago. She died in N. Louisburg, where the deceased spent several years. He has since remained unmarried.

For a long time Miss Lizzie Weghorst took care of his household and nursed him in sickness and caring. The deceased was a Christian, industrious and peaceful man.

The funeral was held Monday, July 29, in the morning here in Minster held after a funeral service at St. Augustine Church.
