Ernest J. Ostrowski, 86, formerly of 3812 Lake Drive, Amherst Junction, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at the Portage County Health Care Center. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher, with the Rev. Robert Pedretti officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point and from 9a.m. Tuesday at the church until the services. A Moose ritual will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, and the Knights of Columbus will combine with the general rosary at 7 p.m. Monday.

Mr. Ostrowski was born April 19, 1916, in Amherst, a son of the late Joseph and Pearl (Platta) Ostrowski.

He attended school in Amherst.

He was married to Dolores Firkus on Feb. 3, 1945, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Stevens Point. After the marriage they settled in Amherst where they farmed.

He was a member of the Moose Family Center, the Knights of Columbus and St. Mary of Mount Carmel Holy Name Society.

Survivors include his wife, Stevens Point; three daughters, Bernadine (Larry) Strong and Marie Ostrowski, both of Stevens Point, and Kathleen (James) Triplett, Zion, Ill.; one brother, Alfonse, Amherst; one sister, Alice Landowski, Scandinavia; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one infant son and nine brothers and sisters.
