Lois V. Sauer, 89, a resident of Heritage Acres, Cedar Rapids, died there Wednesday evening, January 6, 1993. Born the daughter of Willam and Harriet Buckingham Sauer on April 20, 1903, in Buchanan County, she married John Wesley Peyton on March 3, 1925, in Marion. Lois and John owned and operated the Midway Cafe in Troy Mills from 1940 to 1955, and she worked at St. Lukes from 1955 to 1968. Survivors include three daughters, Berniece Jordan and husband, Donald of Central City; Darlene Wright of Troy Mills and Freda Daubenberger and Husband Irwin of Cape Coral, Florida, a son D. Duane Peyton and wife Judy of Marion; and a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Peyton of Manchester. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1976; a son, John "Jack" Wesley Peyton, Jr.; a son-in-law Allen Wright; 5 brothers, two sisters, and two granddaughters. SErvices were held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, Jan. 9, 1993, at Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion, Iowa, conducted by the Rev. Mark Tuttle. Organist: Bethel Sylvester. Bearers: Carl Pentico, Gale Jordan, Richard Peyton, Michael Peyton, John Wesley Peyton III and Douglas Daubenberger. Burial Troy Mills Cemetery.
