David Orwig Hoffman

David Orwig Hoffman, 64, of Interlachen, FL, passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at VA Malcom Randall Medical Center (Palliative Care Unit) in Gainesville, FL.
David was born July 9, 1945, in Newburg, a son of the late Orwig Clayton and Hazel (Messenger) Hoffman.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was retired from Verizon, where he had worked as manager. He was a member of Gideons International, Rotary International, Pioneers of America, Lions Club and the Cross Road Community Church.
He is survived by two sons, Gregory David Hoffman and wife Patricia of Clarksburg, and Mark Anthony Hoffman of Interlachen, FL; two brothers and spouses, Carl and LaDonna Hoffman of Hazelton, Rick and Elaine Hoffman of Hummelston, PA; four sisters and spouses, Mary Lee and Jim Wilson of New Martinsville, Katheryn Gallagher of Follansbee, Patricia and Robert Leonard of Pittsburgh, PA, Kimberly and Rich Hardesty of Follansbee; a grandson, Brendan Gregory Hoffman of Clarksburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Martin) Hoffman.
Friends and family could call at Rotruck-Lobb Funeral Home, 295 S. Price St., Kingwood, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bruce Hoffman officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Kingwood, where military honors were accorded by Preston County VFW Posts, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 977 Preston County, and WVANG Military Funeral Honors, Camp Dawson.
The family requested that memorial donations be made in David's memory to Gideons International, Box 349, Kingwood, WV 26537.
