The son of Addison E. Percy and Harriet E. Bloodough. John married Elizabeth Tooley on 30 Dec 1907. They had two sons named Kenneth E. and Lyle H.

Obituary: Dies at 84
J. Ward Percy, 84, of 133 North Pleasant street, a retired city constable, died about 7:30 Thursday evening at the Brown Nursing home of Adams Center, where he had been a patient about a year. Death was attributed chiefly to infirmities of old age.
The funeral will be at 1:30 Saturday afternoon at the Reed & Benoit funeral home. Rev. Wiley White, pastor of the Bethany Methodist church will officiate. Burial will be in the North Watertown cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Tooley Percy; two sons, Kenneth E. Percy, 133 North Pleasant street, principal of the Knickerbocker and the Academy street schools, and Lyle H. Percy, 125 Francis street, clerk at the postoffice; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Robert R. Percy, 107 West Lende street, David L. Percy, 306 Gale street, and Leslie M. Percy, San Gabriel, Calif., as well as nieces and nephews.
Two other brothers are dead. They were: Harold S. Percy, president of Smith & Percy, Inc., who died April 18, 1960 at his home here at the age of 69, and Hubert G. Percy, a salesman in the Smith & Percy store, who died at his home her Jan. 14, 1936.
Mr. Percy, who was a city constable for nearly 25 years until he retired, had been in failing health the past four or five years.
He was born in the town of Clayton Aug. 5,1883, a son of Addison E. and Harriet E. Bloodough Percy. He was educated in the public schools of that town and came to Watertown when he was about 21 years old. For a time he was an agent for the Prudential Insurance company, but later was an interior decorator and was employed for years by the late Otto Bachman.
Later, he was a collector for the Star Clothing company store on Court street before he was appointed a city constable in 1941. He continued to serve as constable until his retirement three years ago. He became a licensed private detective in 1952.
At one time Mr. Percy, a second tenor, was a member of the Garland City Quartet which played in vaudeville for seven years and toured the country. In 1914 he organized the Imperial Quartet, which performed at weddings and concerts in Watertown and northern New York for years. His brother, Robert, was a member of both quartets.
Mr. Percy was a member of Bethany Methodist church for more than 50 years and was a member of its Men's club and choir. We was a member and past president of the Couples' club of the church and former member of the Lincoln League.
He married Miss Elizabeth Tooley of Watertown, a native of Canada, at the Brownville Methodist church Dec. 30, 1907.
