Worthy Young Man
Charles C. Summers died at his home in Quincy Sunday morning, December 28, at 6 o’clock. His death was due to typhoid fever and his illness, which was but of seven days duration, was born with marked Christian resignation. As a clerk in his brother’s store in Quincy he made many warm friends and being of an unusually sociable disposition he was highly esteemed by all who knew him, as was manifested by the large concourse of people who attended the funeral services in the United Brethren church. He was pious and truthful and was a member of the U. B. church for the past 11 months, becoming much devoted to his church and its services. When able to do so he always filled his place in the sanctuary and regretted the loss of this privilege. Such was his life and experience that his sorrowing friends have the assurance that he is now enjoying the Glorious Presence and that of departed saints. Mr. Summers was an energetic young Democrat but was highly esteemed by men of both political parties. He is survived by a young wife, father and mother, three brothers and four sisters. He was aged 27 years, 1 month and 15 days. His remains were buried in Green Hill cemetery in Waynesboro Wednesday afternoon, funeral services being conducted by Rev. J. C. Clippinger in the U. B. church. The funeral discourse was preached from 2d Thess. 4:14.
