James F. Robillard, 94, of Sanford, died on Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Newton Center in Sanford.
James was born in Boston, MA on May 29, 1916 to Joseph and Louise (Wright) Robillard. He grew up in Lowell, MA where he attended local schools. As a young man he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was stationed in Maine. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps for approximately five years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard from 1942 to 1979.
James enjoyed going fishing and had owned a boat with friends that they enjoyed taking out on Moosehead and Sebago lakes. When he was a young man he also enjoyed going hunting. James traveled to many places in his life including Switzerland, England, Italy and Canada. His favorite trip was a tiger cruise that he and his son took to Hawaii aboard the USS Carl Vinson. When he was a young man, James was a member of Toastmasters. He enjoyed talking with people and loved to debate with his wife Joan. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man with an excellent sense of humor and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
James was predeceased by his first wife Pauline.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Robillard of Sanford; a daughter, Patricia Tetrault and her husband Robert of Brookings, Oregon and a son, Ronald Robillard and his wife Carol of Lemoore, California; four grandchildren, Janet Beller, James Tetrault, Chris Robillard and Rachel Riley and five great grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held at a date to be announced. Interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.
