Cary - Hardy Bryant Bagwell, 84, widely known citizen of Wake County, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. T. B. Smith in Cary Sunday morning at 1:30 o'clock.
The son of the late Nancy Britt and Sidney Bagwell, he was born and reared in Wake County.
About 35 years ago, Mr. Bagwell established on Raleigh, Route 4, one of the outstanding farms in this section.
Surviving him are the following children by his first wife, who was Miss Addie Creech and who died in 1889: Mrs. R. L. Smith, of Garner, Mrs. Cubie Hattler of Charlotte, Mrs. Ola Beaty of Smithfield, Miss Mattie Mae Bagwell, Willie Bagwell and Mrs. Selma Pool of Portsmouth, Va.
The following children by his second wife, the form Miss Ella Smith who died eight years ago, also survive: Mrs. T. B. Smith and Mrs. L. L. Raines of Cary, Mrs. A. R. Steele, Leo H. Bagwell of Asheville, Bertram Bagwell of Washington, D. C., Mrs. E. T. Allen of Knightdale and Mrs. C. L. Barnhardt of Raleigh.
The following brothers and sisters also survive: S I. Bagwell of Oklahoma City, Okla; E. E. Bagwell of San Antonia, Tex; Mrs. Florence E. Kennedy of Norfolk, Va.; and Mrs. Nannie Hughes of Raleigh.
Funeral Services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Barnhardt, 225 Glascock Street, with Rev. Forrest C. Freezor and Rev. Clarence E. Norman as officiating ministers. Interment will be in the family plot in Oakwood Cemetery. Members of the Capital City Council of the Junior Order, of which Mr. Bagwell was a member, will be honorary pallbearers.
