Anna was born to David and Elizabeth Ann (Bailey)Emmerson April 1, 1877 in Eureka, Kansas. She was the first born of five children. Anna had three sisters; Sara Elizabeth, Mary Katherine, Agnes Fay and one brother; David Ralph. Anna met and married George Newton Hutto in Eureka, Kansas.They were married at her parents' home October 24, 1897. Shortly after their marriage they moved to the Oklahoma Territory. On July 22, 1898, Anna gave birth to twins Flossie Gabrilla "Gadie" and Frank Gardett. On February 2, 1902, a new member of the family was born, a son called George Emmerson Hutto. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Anna who was known for being meticulous, gave her granddaughter a clothes hanger for a birthday gift with a note that said, "Bonnie, be neat." She dressed beautifully, played the piano and made delicious cookies.
