Maurine Winsier Andrist, age 67, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014. She was known for her selfless nature, generosity, vibrant spirit, and vast knowledge of interesting facts.

Maurine was born on August 29, 1946 in Austin, Texas to parents CL "Jack" Winsier and Margie McCoy Winsier.

She met James Andrist while both were stationed at Pensacola, Florida Naval Base. They were married in 1967. Following their honorable discharge the new couple relocated back to Austin, Texas. Maurine was a homemaker, gardener, and caregiver to all creatures great and small. She was an avid reader, loved to travel, shop and spend time with family and friends.

Maurine's husband, James Andrist preceded her in death in 2008.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Fennell and husband, Mark of Cedar Park, Texas; son, Christopher Andrist and wife, Elsy of Del Valle, Texas; grandchildren, Luke, Harley, and Loren Andrist, and Tiffany Roberts of Del Valle, Texas; great-grandchild, Hunter Linton. She is also survived by her sister, Maxine Washington and husband, Frank of Elgin, Texas; her sister, Marlene Pense and husband, Rick of Houston, Texas; her brother, Bobby Winsier and wife, Shirley of Austin, Texas; her brother, Louis Winsier and wife, Pam of Austin, Texas; her sister, Michelle Winsier-Vega and husband, David of Austin, Texas; her sister, Murlene Winsier-Sanchez and husband, Gustavo of Houston, Texas; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Maurine leaves us with many happy memories. She will always be missed.

A celebration of her life will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 in the evening on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the Cook Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Austin.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Cook Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park in Austin with Reverend Lisa Blaylock to officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
